The hotel has an outrageous policy of collecting resort fee (USD25 a day) even when staying with points. Furthermore, they failed to mention that by “coffee” they meant simple filter coffee. We were granted USD12 per day for coffee and water, but nobody explained to us that it is not accumulative. The bathroom was large with a toilet, sink, shower (with a weak water pressure) and dispensers with Zenology amenities. The room was nicely designed and we had a view of the noisy Petco park. We were allocated room 1018, which was rather large, featured 2 beds, a big TV, a safe, a coffee machine, a desk and chair, an armchair and a coffee table. We checked in at 2:30 PM and were upgraded from our regular room to a bigger room, as Platinum members. The hotel is centrally located in the Gaslamp quarter (as its name suggests), minutes walk from the noisy Petco park. As stated we are platinum members, does this mean nothing? Even down to the fact that my wife is considering to take her business elsewhere. Twice we’ve come home and the reception bar was closed. My wife would of enjoyed to relax there with a book. This is when we learned about the amenities fee we were being charged for per night! What amenities exactly are their? The rooftop bar doesn’t open until 4, meaning there’s no social spaces. We later had a query as $75 was taken from our card, with out us handing a card over or even being told about it by reception staff upon check in. The lady told us we were entitled but had lost the previous days! I’m sorry but staff incompetence shouldn’t be an excuse for us to lose out. We only discovered this when we asked the next day after hearing everyone being offered it. He also failed to mention the $10 credit and water coffee bonus. He was more interested where in England we were from.
My wife stated we’d take the drinks, to which the man on reception stated it was a single voucher, fair enough but we mentioned it was our honeymoon to which got no response not even a congratulations. When we checked in we were given asked if we wanted the points or the drink voucher. She has platinum member status due to travelling and using ihg for business. Me and my wife booked the IHG indigo for our honeymoon stay in San Diego.
